Welcome to afaik.gr, the ordinary place to be
What is this place?
Basically, afaik.gr is my personal domain and as such, it reflects my personal interests (or at least some of them). Since I am an ordinary person, this is an ordinary place to be :)
It started as a simple weblog (which is still active here). I have chosen that domain name with no particular reason, other than it was free at the time and it has a generic meaning: As Far As I Know. My only plan was to put in little pieces of knowledge on various subjects.
In the process, I thought that a specialization was needed in order to avoid making just another "noisy" site. All the things that interest me, are not necessarily interesting for other people, so I decided to deploy a couple of different sections on the site, so that anyone could follow the sections they like and avoid the rest.
I'm starting with this section (afaik.gr under siege) which is devoted to the well known computer game "Dungeon Siege®" by Microsoft® Game Studios and Gas Powered Games®. I will try to deploy other sections about astronomy, science, science fiction, archery, digital photography, etc., but that will actually depend on how much free time I'll have.
So, what will afaik.gr under siege is going to be like?
There will be two subsections on it: The main portal and the forums. Most features will be open for visitors, but you are encouraged to register so as to be able to actively participate to the building of the site's content.
The portal will basically be the place for people to:
- read and submit news (about the game or anything else that would interest the members),
- read and submit content (articles, tutorials, resources, etc.)
- download and upload files (mods, maps, models, tools, etc.)
Please understand that I intend to keep a certain standard in this site. Since it will be a place open for all people, all submissions will have to be approved by me before they actually appear in the site. Having said that, most submissions will probably be approved unless they are absolutely irrelevant to the site's contect or style.
The forums will be the place for active discussion about playing and modding the game (and perhaps some other stuff too). Although news, articles and files can be posted in the forums too, you are encouraged to also post them in the main section so as to help me build a decent resource base. I intend to keep a certain standard in the forums as well, so please read the forums policy.
If someone wishes to see a new topic or thematic section in the main site, just drop me a message and I'll discuss it with you.
Navigation instructions:
- Register first (no real personal info required) in order to become member of the portal and the forums. You may have to login separately to access the forums but the same username and password will be used. You may see and change your personal info and preferences for the portal through the "Your Account" link. Your preferences for the forums are accessible through the "My Controls" link at the forum pages. I'm working on integrating the preferences into one page, but it's not a priority right now.
- At the central section of the home page, you'll be seeing my messages and the news posted to the site.
- The "Topics" link refers to the news' subjects in case you'd like to see them organised by subject.
- The "Content" link will take you to the various articles, tutorials and stuff.
- The "Download" link is obvious. Aside from downloading, you can also upload links to external files (give proper credit) or directly upload files to be hosted by afaik.gr (some restrictions concerning the file type and size apply).
- The "Members Journals" is a place for you to write your everyday notes (kind of a weblog). You may choose to make it public or keep it private.
- The other links are pretty much obvious, but I'd happily explain to anyone that asks me about them. More links may be added later.
Oh, and please remember: any content in this site may NOT be reproduced elsewhere without the prior written permission of me and the content's author. Please respect other people's hard work.
That's all. Feel free to walk around and comment on the site. Your feedback will be highly appreciated.

| Kilarin has just submitted the brand new version (0.90) of Mageworld Journal :-)
Go grab it from the Downloads Section, and post your comments here or in the forums. SiegeNetwork and SiegeNetwork Forums are still your best chance of talking to other people about Mageworld ;)
Enjoy!

| | | | | | | New Download: Mageworld 1.0, Mageworld patch 1.1, Mageworld Journal 0.81 | | Yes, Mageworld is out for about a month now, but I was too busy playing it to post any news about it :-) Yet another great siegelet by Xaa.
Due to bandwidth limitations, I can't mirror Mageworld itself (or the patch) here but I have updated the Siegelet Download Section with the appropriate links.
The Mageworld Journal is a cool utility made by Kilarin, especially for Mageworld, that will help you to keep notes while playing the game (and you're gonna need that too). This is hosted locally, so you can get it directly.
Go grab them from the Downloads Section, and post your comments here or in the forums. You can also visit SiegeNetwork and SiegeNetwork Forums where you can find many people talking about Mageworld (and other nice stuff too) ;)
Enjoy!

| | | | | | | Well, I finally managed to get some time together and wrap up the new version of BufUI :)
The new version does no longer depend on altering the heroes' templates in order to work, so it's going to be far more compatible with other mods. It is also supposed to work with saved games that were saved without BufUI in place. A couple of minor bugs were fixed as well.
Get it from the download section.
I did all the tests I could in both SP and MP but I could still have missed something... Give it a try and tell me what you think. There's also a special topic for BufUI in the forums.
Enjoy!
| | | | | | | Not exactly fresh news, but Dergin has released version 1.2 of his Treasure Island mini map, currently available at his personal site (Galcia). I guess all new versions are going to be released there from now on, so pay him a visit and get the latest map.
| | | | | | | Dark_Mage has just submitted a new mod that adds nine items (four weapons, two armour and three amulets/rings). Grab it from the download section and tell him what you think here or in the forums.
Good job Dark_Mage!
| | | | | | | Talon is back with a new version of his mini-map: TalonsWorld v1.3 "Heads or Tails". Grab it from the download section and post your comments here or in the forums.
Good job Talon! Keep it up :)
Note on version 1.3: If you have played the previous version, look for new areas after the city of Udolpho. If you are new to the map, be prepared for a single or multiplayer campaign with many hours of gameplay, ranging all the way from 0 to hero and beyond. The map can be quite dangerous if you face it alone, so try to play it either in singleplayer, and get the help of 4 hireable chars, or play it in multiplayer with some friends.
| | | | | | | How would you like to play DS as a Krug? Or as a Fury? Make it happen with iryan's excellent mod "Monster Siege" and tell us how you felt about it, here or in the forums.
Very well done, iryan!
| | | | | | | Dergin has submitted his mini-map "Treasure Island" that may prove useful for people looking for some nice items ;) Get it from the download section.
As usual, you can state your comments here or in the forums. Well done Dergin!
| | | | | | | Talon was busy during the Athens Olympics, working on his mini-map "TalonsWorld" :) and he has just released version 1.2 of it! Get it from the download section.
You may post your comments here or in the forums.
Well done Talon!
Note on version 1.2: It's more balanced now and more complete, including the option to play the map in single player mode, hireable characters and all. The quest starts in the garden labyrinth of Beech Park and stretches to the indefinite infinite reaches of Sto'vo'kor. The map is compatible with all Dungeon Siege versions and holds challenges for level 0 to elite players.
| | | | | | | TyrellCorp has just sent in his new mini-map "Dark Tide Rising". Get it from the mini maps downloads section.
Post your comments here or in the forums.
Good work TyrellCorp!
